Scratch maps and "countries visited" lists have the same problem: one weekend in one city colours in a whole country, and the places that actually mattered get lost.
Waymarka takes a different approach: places, not countries. You drop a pin on each city you've been to, so your map shows where you really went. It's a travel pin map and flight log that runs in your browser on any phone or computer. It's a record of where you've been, not a live tracker: it doesn't track your location or flights, and it doesn't send alerts.
Places, not countries
Every pin is a city. Two cities in Australia means two pins, and the country never shows as "complete": only the places you pin count. A countries counter still tells you how many countries you've pinned so far, and your places are listed under each country with the dates you were there.
Five ways to mark a place
Not every place on your map is somewhere you've simply visited. Each pin gets a status:
- Visited: been there.
- Planned: on the list.
- Living now: where you are right now.
- Native: where you're from.
- Not visited: not yet.
Visited, Planned, Living now and Native all show on the same map, each in its own colour, so your home town, your current city and your next trip sit side by side with everywhere you've been.
Pin places you reached without flying
A pin doesn't need a flight behind it. Road trips, train journeys and ferry crossings count just as much: if you were there, pin it. Share your map, or keep it to yourself
Your map is private unless you choose otherwise. Switch on the optional public profile and you get a page at your own handle (waymarka.app/u/your-handle) showing your map, places and flying totals. Frequently asked questions
Does Waymarka colour in whole countries?
No. You pin cities, so a country never shows as complete. A countries counter shows how many countries you've pinned, and each pin stays a specific place.
Can I pin places I didn't fly to?
Yes. Pins work for any city you reached, by road, rail, sea or air. Flights are logged separately and drawn as routes.
Can I mark places I want to visit or where I live?
Yes. Mark a place as Planned, Living now or Native as well as Visited. Each status has its own colour on the map.
Is Waymarka a live tracker?
No. Waymarka is a travel pin map and flight log for places you've been and flights you've taken. It doesn't track your location or flights live and doesn't send alerts.
Can other people see my pin map?
