How many countries have I flown to?

It sounds like an easy question until you try to answer it. The flights are spread across old boarding passes, airline emails and apps you stopped using, and every country list you've tried either misses the trips you didn't fly or colours in a whole country for one layover.

Waymarka is a flight log and travel pin map that keeps the count for you. Log your flights, pin the cities you've been to, and your countries total updates on its own. It runs in your browser on any phone or computer. It's a record of where you've been, not a live tracker: it doesn't track flights or your location, and it doesn't send alerts.

How Waymarka counts your countries

Your total comes from two places:

  • Your flights: the countries at both ends of every flight you log, departure and arrival.
  • Your city pins: every city you've marked as Visited, Living now or Native.

The same rule is used everywhere in the app, so the number stays right when you add, import, edit or delete a flight or a pin. Your total is shown out of 196, the UN member states plus observers.

Trips you didn't fly count too

Pins are cities, not whole countries, so a road trip, a train journey or a ferry crossing gets on the map as easily as a flight. If you were there, pin the city and the country is counted. You can also mark places as Planned to keep a list of where you want to go next, without it changing your total. More on pins in the travel pin map guide.

See which countries you've been to most

Next to the total, a ranked list shows each country with its flag, ordered by how many of your visited pins and logged flights touch it. Your flight stats are worked out at the same time: the aircraft types, airlines, routes and airports you've flown. Every flight is also drawn as a route on your flight map.

Get your old flights in quickly

Your count is only as good as your history, so there are a few ways to fill it in:

  • Manual entry: a date and the two airports are enough.
  • Scan a boarding pass: point your camera at the barcode and the details fill in. Barcode scans are unlimited on every plan.
  • AI reading (Pro): upload a photo or PDF of a boarding pass and AI reads it.
  • Import a file: bring flights over from a Flighty or myFlightradar24 export, or any spreadsheet saved as CSV.

Frequently asked questions

How does Waymarka count the countries I've flown to?

It counts the countries at both ends of every flight you log, plus the country of every city you've pinned as Visited, Living now or Native. The total is shown out of 196.

Does a country count if I only changed planes there?

If you log that flight, yes: both the departure and arrival countries of every logged flight are counted.

Can countries I visited without flying count?

Yes. Pin a city you reached by road, rail or sea and its country is added to your total.

Is Waymarka a live flight tracker?

No. Waymarka is a flight log and travel pin map for flights you've taken and places you've been. It doesn't track flights live and doesn't send alerts.

Is it free to start?
