How to log past flights and add old flights
Most people start a flight log years after their first flight. You don't need every detail to begin: add what you remember now and fill in the gaps as you find old boarding passes, booking emails or exports from another app.
Waymarka is a flight log and travel pin map that runs in your browser on any phone or computer. It's built for flights you've already taken, not a live tracker: it doesn't track flights and doesn't send alerts.
Start with the flights you remember
A past flight needs only three things: the date and the two airports (three-letter codes like LHR or JFK). Flight number, airline, times, terminals, gates, aircraft, registration, seat, cabin and notes are all optional, and you can add them later with Edit when you find them.
The date box starts on today, so change it for an old flight. You can type the date day-first (dd/mm/yyyy) or pick it from the calendar, which goes all the way back to 1900. The distance and an estimated flight time are worked out from the two airports, so there's nothing to look up.
Old boarding passes
- Scan the barcode: point your camera at a paper or mobile boarding pass and the details fill in. Boarding-pass barcodes don't include the year, so before you approve a scanned flight you confirm it: Treat as past flight, Treat as upcoming flight, or type the year. On the free plan, scans count toward your 10 flights.
- AI reading (Pro): upload a photo or PDF of a boarding pass and AI reads it for you (1 a month on Monthly, unlimited on Annual and Waymarka Life).
Old emails, spreadsheets and other apps
Bring a whole history in as a file instead of typing flight by flight:
- Waymarka template: under Add flights → Use Waymarka template, download a blank sheet with just three required columns (date, from, to) plus optional ones for flight number, airline, times, seat, cabin, booking reference and notes. Handy for rebuilding trips from old booking emails.
- Any spreadsheet saved as CSV: you confirm which column is which, and day-first and month-first dates are both detected. See importing flights from CSV.
- Flighty export: see the Flighty alternative guide.
- myFlightradar24 export: see importing from myFlightradar24.
Imported flights show up as a list for you to check before anything is saved.
No doubled-up flights
The same trip often turns up twice when you catch up: once from memory, once from an old email. On import, flights already in your log are flagged as possible duplicates, so you can keep, replace or merge each one. When you add a flight by hand on a date and route you've already logged, you can Merge Missing Details into the existing flight, Continue Anyway, view the existing record, or cancel.
Watch your history build
Every flight you add is drawn as a route on your map of every flight you've taken, and your stats update as you go: airlines, aircraft types, routes, airports and countries. Each flight also gets its own page, so a back-filled trip can hold your seat and notes like a flight diary. The demo shows it with sample data, no sign-up needed. You can export all your flights as CSV from Settings → Data and privacy at any time, on any plan.
What it costs
- Free: your first 10 flights and 10 city pins, no card needed. Imports are included; if a file has more flights, the 10 most recent are saved.
- Pro: unlimited flights and pins, plus AI boarding-pass reading: $2.99 a month, $19.99 a year, or $49.99 once for Waymarka Life, all in USD plus tax.

Frequently asked questions
Can I add flights from years ago?
Yes. Type the date (dd/mm/yyyy) or pick it from the calendar, which goes back to 1900.
What if I don't remember the flight number or airline?
Leave them blank. Only the date and the two airports are required; add the rest later with Edit.
Can I scan an old boarding pass?
Yes. Scan the barcode with your camera, then confirm the year before saving, because barcodes don't include it. On the free plan, scans count toward your first 10 flights.
What happens if I add the same flight twice?
It's flagged as a possible duplicate, so you can keep, replace or merge it instead of doubling up.
Is Waymarka a flight tracker?
No. It's a log and map of flights you've taken. It doesn't track flights live and doesn't send alerts.
